Darial 'Dody' Wecker
Darial (Dody) Wecker, age 86 of New Hope, formerly of Waseca, died on Monday, October 12, 2015 at St. Therese Care Center in New Hope.
Born on July 24, 1929 in Tyler, Minnesota, she was the daughter of John and Pearl (Hedge) Magandy. She graduated from Tyler High School and later from St. Johns Nursing School in Huron, SD. Darial married Melvin Wecker June 30, 1951 in Pierre, SD. She worked as a nurse in Huron, SD and Sleepy Eye, MN before moving to Waseca in 1974. Following her husbands death she worked as a volunteer grief counselor with Waseca Hospice for several years. She later moved to Maple Grove, MN. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, and reading. Dariel was a former member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Waseca.
She is survived by one son David (Peggy) Wecker of Rogers, MN.; three grandchildren, Wendi Loveland of Rogers; Daniel (Angie) Wecker of West St. Paul, MN; and Melissa (Tyler) Franz of Columbia Heights, MN.; and six great-grandchildren. Darial is also survived by sister-in-law Janet Magandy of Long Beach, MS and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, and three sisters. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 11:00AM at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca with Rev. Victor Waters officiating.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.
