Daniel Thomas Hill
DANIEL THOMAS HILL, age 52 of Kilkenny died on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 in Kilkenny.
Born on November 7, 1963 in Mankato, Minnesota, he was the son of Whitey and Sharon (Grothe) Hill. Dan spent his childhood years demolishing and fabricating bikes on Main Street in Elysian, riding his "Kitty Cat" snowmobile and playing cars and trucks, all of which would tie into his racing career. He married Linda Labs on July 2, 1987 in Brookings, SD. They had 3 wonderful daughters, each of whom gave 3 grandchildren, totaling 9, along with 4 step-grandchildren. Dan loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. He often said that the highlight of his life would be the years he spent racing, which was all of our favorite times. He spent the majority of his life working in the concrete business, first for his dad, Whitey and then in 1996, he and Linda bought the business. Together they ran Hill Concrete for 11 years. Dan spent his remaining years driving dump truck for Sunny Brook Farms and K OConnor Trucking and in our opinion could drive that truck like no other. He was known for cracking jokes, smart alec comments, pushing peoples buttons just to get a reaction, his great sense of humor, and his great sense of family man. We will forever love and miss him.
Dan was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Elysian.
He is survived by his wife, Linda of Kilkenny; three daughters, Lana (Logan) Vincent of Kilkenny, Heidi (Jason) Ellis of Waseca, and Nicole (Josh) Piha of Kilkenny; nine grandchildren, Wyatt, Kadynce, Sawyer, Rylind, Phelix, Amelia, Beckett, Graham, and Opal; and four step-grandchildren, Jerith, Devon, Brittany, and Logan. He is also survived by two sisters, Dawn (Lyle) Arndt of Madison Lake and Bonnie Smith and special friend, Doug Deitert; mother-in-law, Doris Labs of Waterville; and step-mother, Jeannie Hill of Cleveland. He was preceded in death by his parents, one niece, and father-in-law, Marty Labs.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 4:00 PM at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waterville. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 1:00 PM until the time of services at the funeral home.
