Daniel Paul Schultz was born on January 24, 1955 in Mankato to Francis and Angeline (Rathai) Schultz. He was baptized and confirmed in his faith at St. Anns Catholic Church in Janesville. Dan received his education at Janesville Public School up until his sophomore year and then attended the Waseca Ag School, graduating in 1973.
On March 26, 1976, Daniel was united in marriage to Theresa Priem at St. Anns Catholic Church. Together they were blessed with 5 daughters. Dan and Theresa made their home in Janesville and in 2012 they moved to the country south of town. Dan worked as a warehouse manager for Brayton Chemicals in Janesville and later for Winfield Solutions in Winthrop, he also farmed alongside his brothers until his health no longer allowed.
Dan was a lifelong member of St. Anns Catholic Church where he was involved with the Knights of Columbus, he also belonged to the Janesville Jaycees. Dan was known for his sense of humor and a personality that could take over a room. He enjoyed casually golfing at Prairie Ridge Golf Club in Janesville. He was a big sports fan, but truly enjoyed following the Vikings and Twins. Most importantly, Dan cherished the time he spent with his family. In 2008, Dan was diagnosed with a rare disease (MSA) that he battled for the last 8 years. Because of the rarity of his disease, one of Dans final wishes was to give the gift of hope, that one day we find a cure for this disease, he did this through organ and tissue donation.
Dan is survived by his wife of 40 years, Theresa; his daughters: Lisa (Karl) Taylor of Mankato, Sarah Keltner of Colfax, WI, Rita Schultz of Janesville, Laura Kaiser of Janesville, and Maria (Sean) Mulcahey of Janesville; 11 Grandchildren: Tyler, Lucas, and Samantha Taylor, Meadow, Rayna, and Benjamin Keltner, Chloe and Gavinn Kaiser, and Evan, Dylan, and Christian Mulcahey; parents, Francis and Angie; brothers: Dennis (Brenda), David (Shelley), Mark (Karen), and Jim (Marcia); sisters: Ann (Bob) Carda, Carol (Mike) Holleran, Julie Schultz, Connie Schultz, and Susan (Will) McGowan; brother-in-law, Donald (Jan) Priem; sisters-in-law: Debra (Joe) Jackson, Kathy (Richard) Berry, Angie (Bob) Coonrod, and Amy Hanson; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
