Cynthia Ann Coy

Cynthia Ann Coy, age 65, life long resident of Waseca, passed away on August 8, 2022 at her home with her family by her side.

Cindy was born on June 24, 1957, to Leland and JoAnn (Larson) Root, in Waseca, Minnesota. She attended school at Sacred Heart and graduated from Waseca High School in 1975.

Cindy has enjoyed a fulfilling life with her loving husband Scott Coy. They have spent much of their time attending and supporting their grandchildren in all their activities. Together they proudly cheered at softball games, baseball games, volleyball games, as well as dance recitals, and many more. They looked forward to visiting TX each year, and other travels to see friends and family. They spent many weekends in their classic cars, dinners out with lifelong friends that were there through the end. Toasting her bedside with her favorite chardonnay. Earlier in her life Cindy was married to Curt Yess and had 5 children together and continued to support each other as an extended family.

Cindy worked at a variety of jobs and obtained her Social Work degree in 2001 and enjoyed giving back to others to help them. She advocated for children with special needs and helped to pass legislation that supported infants and children with developmental disabilities.

She is survived by her loving husband, Scott Coy of Waseca; father, Leland Root of Waseca; children, Jillian (Jon) Stagman of Waseca, Jeremy (Kelsey) Coy of Savage, Jocelyn (Zac) Karbo of Aledo, TX, Jennifer (Colby) Schmidt of Saint Peter; grandchildren, Cameron Stagman, Kaiya Stagman, Tyler Stagman, Kaylee Coy, Paxton Karbo, Hudson Karbo, Brooklyn Schmidt, Roslyn Schmidt, Adalyn Schmidt, and Kendelyn Schmidt; sisters, Denise (Paul) Peterson, Mary (Lyle) Anderson; brothers, Chuch (Lora Root), Doug (Barb) Root; brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Kevin (Katrina) Coy, Tracy (Bess) Coy, Brad (Vlasta) Coy; and many nieces and nephews.

Cindy was preceded in death by her sons, Jacob and Jason Yess; mother, JoAnn Root, mother & father-in-law, Burt and Lois Coy; brother-in-law Keith Coy.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 PM on Friday, August 12th at the Third Street Chapel of Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral & Cremation Service in Waseca and continue Saturday August 13th one hour before services at the church.

Funeral service will be 11:00 AM on Saturday August 13th at 11am at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Waseca with Pastor John Omans officiating. Cremation and burial will be held at a later date.
