Curtis Amundson May 24, 1932 - September 28, 2010
Curtis O. Amundson, age 78 of Faribault, died Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at the District One Hospital in Faribault following an extended illness. Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault on Sunday, October 3, 2010 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Private family services will be held. The family prefers that memorials be directed to the Rice County Chapter of the American Red Cross. Funeral arrangements are being completed by the Parker Kohl Funeral Home of Faribault. Curtis Orrin Amundson, the son of Clarence and Anna (Scheidecker) Amundson, was born on May 24, 1932 in Bloomer, WI. He attended Randolph High School and graduated with the class of 1950. He was united in marriage to LaVerne Schmitz. In 1963, Curtis & LaVerne moved from Shakopee, MN to Faribault and started C&S Vending Company. They operated the small business out of their home for several years. As the company grew they eventually rented space for the growing business. In 1979 a new building was built in Faribault, which has been added on to several times. Early on, C&S Vending Inc. became known in the region for its fresh quality products, people and service. C&S Vending grew to become one of the largest independently owned and operated vending machine companies in the county. The company continues to operate in Faribault now involving second and third generation family members. He is survived by his son, Scott (Therese) Amundson of Faribault; by his daughter, Linda (Donald) Matakis of Faribault; by 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; by his special friend, Beverly Haugen of Faribault; by his brother, Gerald (Fern) Amundson of New Richmond, WI; by his half sister, Billie Jean (Jerry) Jerome of Wisconsin and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Amundson and Anna Kins, by his wife LaVerne Amundson on Feb. 28, 1994, by his daughter, Kristine Wenker on Feb. 22, 2010 and by his brother, Robert Amundson.
