Clyde 'Sonny' Craig November 2, 1934 - April 2, 2015

Clyde "Sonny" Craig, age 80, of Faribault, MN, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 2, 2015, at his home.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at the Bethel Ridge Lutheran Church in Faribault, with Rev. Ronald Wik, pastor, officiating. Interment will be at the Meadow Ridge Memorial Park in Faribault, with military honors provided by the Rice County Central Veterans Association.

Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault on Monday from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. and on Tuesday for one hour prior to the services at the church. The Faribault Eagles will conduct a memorial service on Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Clyde Calvin was born on November 2, 1934, in Faribault to Frank and Helen (Morse) Craig. He attended Faribault High School then enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. He served in Korea during the Korean War and later was stationed in Hawaii. He was an excellent cook. For over 20 years, Sonny was the Chef at the Lavender Inn in Faribault. He was married to Nancy Fuchs on August 6, 1979, they had two children, Travis and Nathan. Nancy preceded him in death on February 4, 1993. Later, he married Marie Dahl on February 14, 1999. Sonny and Marie enjoyed going to garage sales and flea markets, dancing, and spending time at their home affectionately named "The Crow''s Nest". Marie preceded him in death on December 30, 2012. Sonny was a collector of many items, and a talented craftsman, making many display cases. His dog Buttons was his constant companion, but most of all his grandkids were his pride and joy. Sonny was a member of the Faribault Aerie 1460 Fraternal Order of Eagles, Faribault Moose Lodge 2098, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1562.

He is survived by his sons, Travis (Chrissy) Craig of Faribault, and Nathan (Tonya) Craig of Kenyon; five grandchildren, Ashley and Blake Craig, and Dylan, Tyler, and Owen Craig; brothers-in-law, Roland Helgeson, Fran Uhlir, Al Morrow, and Martin Mortenson, all of Faribault; special nieces, Cozy Peterson of Faribault, and Kathey Huisman of Owatonna;

special friend, Kelly Neegaard; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his spouses, Nancy and Marie; parents, Frank and Helen; brothers, Harvey, Ed, and Richard Craig; and sisters, Caroline Uhlir, Marjorie "Mick" Morrow, Patricia Helgeson, and Ethel "Babe" Mortenson.
