Clifford W. Schneider, age 79, of St. Clair, died peacefully on Wednesday morning, December 6, 2017, at Fairview Care Center in Dodge Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM on Monday, December 11, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Clair with Fr. Robert Schneider as celebrant. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Memorials are preferred to the St. Clair Fire Department.

Clifford William Schneider was born on March 5, 1938, to Leo and Martha (Rauen) Schneider on his parents farm in Mitchell County, Iowa. He attended parochial grade school in Johnsburg, Minnesota and graduated in 1956, from Crosier High School in Onamia. Cliff continued his education at Ft. Wayne Seminary for a short time before attending Mankato State. It was here where Cliff met Monica McDonald, they were united in marriage on September 29, 1962, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Bird Island, Minnesota. Cliff and Monica lived in Mankato for 12 years before making their home in St. Clair in 1974. Cliff worked for Farmer Seed and Nursery and later for Kato Engineering where he was employed until his retirement in 2000.
Cliff was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where he was very active as the maintenance man and organist. He had a variety of hobbies, some of these include, gardening his vegetable and flower garden, fishing, grilling, camping, going on walks around town and playing cards. He especially enjoyed playing the organ and was very proud of his wood working skills. His prized project was making the pulpit and the altar at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He cherished the time he spent with his family and friends. Cliff will always be remembered for his kind and gentle soul.
Cliff is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Monica of Dodge Center; three children: Dan (Pam) Schneider of Avondale, AZ, Joan (Brad) Meyer of Dodge Center and Ed Schneider (Michelle Laughlin) of Rochester; three grandchildren: Jessica Meyer, Adam Meyer (Brittany LaVan), and Justine Schneider; sister: Louise Merten of Austin; nephews: Jim, Ron and Tom Merten; cousins, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
