Cletus J. Wendinger, age 82 of Waseca, died on Friday, August 6, 2010 at the New Richland Care Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, August 10th at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca with Fr. Marty Schaefer, Celebrant. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Waseca. Visitation will be held on Tuesday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Arrangements are being completed by McRaith Funeral Home and Crematory of Waseca. Cletus John was born on October 9, 1927 in New Ulm, Minnesota to Alfred and Katherine (Ries) Wendinger. He graduated from New Ulm Holy Trinity High School in 1946. Cletus served in the United States Army from September 18, 1946 until his honorable discharge on March 10, 1948. Following his military service Cletus went on to earn his bachelors degree from the University of Minnesota-St. Paul in 1952. He was united in marriage to Rita (Matz) Myers on October 3, 1959 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca. Cletus had a long career with Birds Eye Foods in Waseca. He retired from his supervisor position in 1989 after 36 years of service. He was a long time member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca, and a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Cletus is survived by his wife Rita of Waseca; by his children Shirley (Wallace) Schoeb of Nisswa, Sharon (John) Olson of Wabasha, Mike (Joyce) Myers of Waseca, John Myers of rural Waseca, Paul (Tracy) Myers of Tea, SD, Timothy (Mary) Wendinger of Mankato, and James Wendinger of Owatonna; by 18 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren; by his sister Phyllis (Richard) Goetlz of New Ulm; by many relatives and friends. Casketbearers are: Ann Schoeb Wolters, Tiffany Wendinger Lynch, Mark Schoeb, Josh Myers, Jason Wendinger, and Mike Myers. Honorary bearers are former supervisors that worked with Cletus at Birds Eye. He was preceded in death by his parents; by his two sisters, Joan and Annette.
