Clayton W. Fischer, age 91, of Waseca passed away peacefully at Lakeshore Inn Nursing Home on Thursday, January 10, 2019, surrounded by his loving family.
A visitation will be held from 10:30 AM 1:00 PM on Monday, January 14, with Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 1:00 PM all at Church of the Sacred Heart in Waseca with Fr. Gregory Leif as Celebrant. Interment with military honors will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Waseca.
Memorials are preferred to the Wounded Warrior Project.
Clayton was born on March 15th 1927, to Erich and Reta (Clayton) Fischer in Waseca in St. Mary Township. He attended country school through 8th grade and graduated from Waseca High School in 1944. On April 30, 1949, he was united in marriage to Julia Thiewes of Waseca. Clayton entered the United States Army in 1953 and was deployed to Okinawa during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1955.
Upon returning to Waseca, Clayton resumed his lifelong career as a farmer on the family farm along with his wife Julia. In 2005, Clayton and Julia moved to a house in Waseca where Clayton continued to be involved in day to day farming activities.
Clayton was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca as well as a member of the Waseca VFW. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Clayton is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Julia; his three sons: Larry (Paula), William (Jeanne), and Tim (Marijo); six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; his sister, Marion Tollefson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters: Phylis Krampitz, and Betty Biesterfield.
