Clarence Frederick Youngerberg

CLARENCE FREDERICK YOUNGERBERG, age 98, of Janesville, died on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at his home.

Born on October 21, 1922, in McPherson Township, Blue Earth County, Minnesota to Herman and Martha (Glamm) Youngerberg. Clarence attended country school through 8th grade in McPherson Township at which time he stayed home to help on the farm. At the age of 23, Clarence was drafted into the United States Army. On August 10, 1948, Clarence was united in marriage to Ruth Flemming at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Freedom Township, Waseca County.

Clarence was a lifelong farmer, first working alongside his father as a child, and continuing to farm crops and raise dairy cows until retiring in 1995. He also worked for seven years for the Dill Elevator in Janesville. Clarence and Ruth enjoyed traveling any chance they could and in retirement, they traveled to Brainard where they purchased a home and enjoyed 17 years on the lake. In 2009, Ruth passed away at which time Clarence moved back to Janesville to be closer to family. He was a member of the Janesville American Legion Post #281 and Trinity Lutheran Church in Smiths Mill where he served as an elder for many years.

Clarence is survived by his sisters-in-law: Eleanor Youngerberg of Mankato and Adeline Flemming of Janesville; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews; other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents; wife of 61 years; brothers: Harold (Helen), Rueben (Verna) and Herbert; brothers-in-law: Alvin Flemming, Lester (Lorene) Flemming, Lyle Flemming and Albert Flemming.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Smiths Mill with Rev. Keith Bilitz officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Smiths Mill Cemetery where Clarence spent many summers mowing the lawn.

Memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church in Smiths Mill.
