CHESTER DALE HRDLICKA, age 90, of Elysian died Thursday, November 5, 2020, at St. Johns Hospital in Maplewood.
Born on February 1, 1930, in the family home in Elysian to Albert and Florence (Kruckman) Hrdlicka. He graduated from Waterville High School in 1948. On May 3, 1956, Chester was united in marriage to Helen Marie Lueck at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mankato. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. During his time in the service he was wounded three time during his two tours of duty. He was an active community member, serving as Mayor, Councilman and Volunteer Fireman for the city of Elysian. Chester belonged to the Elysian American Legion Post 311, Voiture 40/8 of Mankato, Elysian United Methodist Church. He enjoyed deer hunting fishing, traveling, family and time at the lake cabin.
Chester is survived by his children, Dale (Jackie) of LeCenter, Daryl (Alicia) of Westbrook, Fred (Rhonda) of Pella, IA, and Julie (John) Frantum of Pemberton; ten grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years; parents; two grandchildren; brothers: Russell (Sis), Fred (Gerry), George (Delores), Gene, Donald (Deanne), Alan (Nancy); sister, Ruby (Bud) Roessler.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to the Elysian United Methodist Church or donor’s choice.
Visitation will be from 9:30 – 11:30 AM on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at the Waterville Chapel of Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services. Private family services will follow. Interment with military honors will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Elysian.
A public celebration of life honoring Chester and Helen will be announced on a later date.
