Chuck was born in Waseca on June 19, 1950, to Walter and Gloria (Knudson) Possehl. The 3rd of 7 children, Chuck graduated from Waseca High School with the class of 1968. He recently celebrated his 50th class reunion. On April 7, 1970, he was drafted into the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War. He was proud to have served his country and proud to be a veteran. He went on to earn an Associates degree in Accounting. In 1976, Chuck met the love of his life, Janet Marie Magee, at a wedding. They were united in marriage on June 24, 1978, in Waseca, and were blessed with 40 wonderful years of marriage. With the help of his brothers, father, and father-in-law, Chuck built their home in Waseca. They were overjoyed to be blessed with two beautiful daughters. His girls were his pride and joy and it was clear to all around him how much he adored and loved them.
Chuck worked as an accountant at Southern Minnesota Communications for several years and also prepared income taxes for family and friends. Chuck then worked at Charlies Hardware for many years before starting his own business, C&J Services, where he contracted as an Appliance Technician with various companies including Quality Appliance in Northfield and Rons Hardware in Waterville. In addition, Chuck really enjoyed driving school and coach bus throughout the states for various school activities, groups, and programs with Clemons, Palmer, and Lake Crystal Coaches. Because of his knowledge in so many areas, Chuck was often the "go-to" person for family and friends. He was a proud member of the Waseca American Legion Post 228 and a lifetime member of the Sweet-Sommers VFW Post 1642 in Waseca.
The center of Chucks life truly was his family. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Chuck was always involved in his daughters activities, especially as a "Dance Dad." Chuck most recently loved being a grandpa. He absolutely adored his two grandchildren, spending quality time with them, and spoiling them every chance he had. Chuck was always there for his family. His words and actions clearly demonstrated his love for them on a daily basis. His love was unconditional. Chuck clearly was a people person and very kindhearted. There wasnt a person with whom he wouldnt strike up a conversation, or a stranger he wouldnt befriend. Chuck will be remembered by all who knew him for his selflessness and willingness to always help someone in need. He will be dearly missed.
Chuck had a passion and talent for cooking and enjoyed preparing delicious meals for his family. He enjoyed watching football, hockey, and baseball. He also enjoyed fishing and his annual deer hunting trips with his brothers. He especially enjoyed traveling to Nashville and Branson with his wife. Chuck had a strong faith, values, and work ethic. Blessed be his memory.
Chuck is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Janet; his two adoring daughters: Jennifer (Seth) Rosenthal of Nashville, TN, and Stephanie (Jordan) Bonneur of Plymouth; his two precious grandchildren: Nora (3) and Samuel (1); his playful grand-dogs: Louie and Murphy; his six siblings: Paulette (Paul) Born of Waseca, Marty (Colleen) Possehl of Claremont, Richard (Valerie) Possehl of Waseca, Bruce Possehl of Waseca, Barbara (Richard) Papinski of Waseca; and Diane (Jerry) Roeker of Smiths Mill; his sister-in-law, Linda Magee of Bloomington; many nieces, nephews, godchildren, other relatives, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Walter and Gloria Possehl; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Lester and Thelma Magee.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Waseca first responders and paramedics, and the caring and compassionate doctors, nurses, and staff at St. Marys hospital.
