CHARLES E. JANUS, age 61 of Waseca died on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.
Born on July 16, 1954 in Wall Township, New Jersey, he was the son of Edward and Marion (Mower) Janus.  He moved to Minneapolis and attended the Blaisdell School of Business.  It was there that he met Sheri Savage and they were married on July 17, 1974 in Red Wing.  He was employed with Williams Steel in Minnapolis before moving to Red Wing where he and his wife operated a daycare facility.   He then worked as a security guard at Prairie Island Nuclear Plant. Charles attended Red Wing Vo-Tech to become a computer systems analyst.  After moving to Waseca in 1984, he was employed at Waseca Mutual before he was hired as a computer systems analyst for US Bank in 1991.
Charles was a professionally rated chess master.  He also enjoyed astronomy and in 1978 was recognized for discovering a star.  He enjoyed camping, drinking coffee, and western and martial art movies.  He was a member of Waseca Christian Assembly.
He is survived by his wife, Sheri of Waseca; four children, David (Ntombi) Janus of South Africa, Karl (Sarrah) Janus of Marietta, GA, Allison Kim of Le Sueur, and Peter Janus of Waseca; and 12 grandchildren.  He is also survived by two brothers, Jamie Janus and Colin Janus both of New Jersey.   He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Lana.
Visitation will be held at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca on Thursday, May 19, 2016 from 4-7 PM.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 20, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the Waseca Christian Assembly with Rev. Brad Wickersheim officiating.
