Charles “Chuck” Everett Furr

May 23, 1938 — October 8, 2024

Kailua, Hawaii

Charles (Chuck) Everett Furr, of Kailua, Hawaii, passed away peacefully on October 8th, 2024, in his home, at the age of 86.

Chuck was born on May 23, 1938 to Loretta Marie and Charles Everett in Waseca, Minnesota. He was one of 17 children living on a dairy farm. He graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic School.

Chuck attended the University of Minnesota to study Agriculture, graduating in 1959. Soon afterwards he was hired at Dow Chemical in Midland, Michigan. He worked 32 years in Sales and Marketing, focusing on Agriculture and transferring to several locations throughout the United States

While training with Dow, Chuck met the love of his life, Marilyn, and began what ended up as a 42-year marriage until her death in 2005. Married in 1962 in Midland Michigan, they welcomed two children, David and Janet.

Marilyn and Chuck followed Chuck’s Uncle, Bill Carrigan’s devotion to St. Padre Pio, who is the family’s Patron Saint.

Chuck and Marilyn were heavily devoted to their faith and active in the community of St. Anthony Parish in Kailua, Hawaii, which they joined in 1989. Chuck’s life purpose was to give back, filling his time with countless hours of volunteering, serving on various church committees, and giving Eucharist to patients at local hospitals. He was quick to tell a joke and to tell a story. In addition to Charles’s community involvement, he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Chuck was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, which he joined during his Senior year of high school, serving for 68 years. He performed 14 different “jobs,” including Vocations Chair, with the Knights and recruited well over 130 members. He also served 8 years on the Board of Trustees of Serra International.

Chuck is survived in death by his children, David (Mindy), Janet (Charlie Johnson), grandchildren Brent (Alex), Sierra, Troy, Spencer, and Tristan, great-grandson Henry, and sisters Margret, Ann and Laura, stepbrother Leo, and stepsister Mary (Boucher) Brixius.

Chuck was preceded in death by his spouse Marilyn, parents, Loretta Marie and Charles Everett, and stepmother Emily (Boucher), his brothers, Robert, Leo, William, and Tom, and his sisters, Zita, Loretta, Gertrude, Rita, Ramona, stepbrother Thomas Boucher, and stepsister Eileen (Boucher) Kott.
