CATHERINE "KATIE" FRANCES PFEIFER, age 86, of Waseca, died on Monday, December 4, 2023 at her home with family by her side following a brief battle with cancer.
Katie was born on October 30, 1937, in Wells, MN to Stanley and Wanda (Siglowski) Banashak. She grew up and attended school in the Wells and New Richland areas. When Katie was a teenager, her parents passed away. She lived with her sister in Kansas for a few years before moving to Waseca where she first met John Pfeifer on the north shore of Clear Lake. They later reconnected at the Monterey Ball Room and were soon after united in marriage on November 30, 1957, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca. Katie and John began their married life together in Minneapolis where Katie stayed busy raising six children. In 1969, they made Waseca their home where she continued to raise their family which grew to seven children. Katie was a wonderful mom and homemaker. Once most of the children were out of the home, Katie had some free time and began working at E.F. Johnson Co., which she thoroughly enjoyed and made lifelong friends. Katie enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading, listening to music, playing cards, (especially hand & foot), and having bonfires with her neighbors. Above all else her family was her world, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Katie was a member of the Waseca American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she was active with Catholic Daughters and eucharistic adoration. Blessed be her memory.
Katie is survived by her children: Dennis (Joan) Pfeifer, Jody (Bill) Hartle, John (Dawn) Pfeifer, Mike Pfeifer, Anne (Arick) Hendrickson, Tim (Jen) Pfeifer, Joel (Missy) Pfeifer; grandchildren: Sonja Pfeifer, April (Corbin) Lemmer, Kelly (Andy) Chadwick, Katy (Mike) Busho, Kari Hartle, Isaac Pfeifer, Tony Schwichtenberg, Cody Pfeifer, Courtney (Reid) Mimmack, Dillon Hendrickson, Zack (Lindsay) Hendrickson, Derek Pfeifer, Blake Pfeifer, J.P.
