CAROLYN "JO" SNYDER, age 85 of Waterville, died on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at the Bridgewater Care Center in Janesville.
Born at her parents home in New Providence, IA on March 8, 1932, Jo was the daughter of Kermit Claude and Mary Mayo (Morris) Whitehead. She attended school in New Providence and graduated in 1949. She went on to continue her education at the Iowa State Teachers College, graduating with an Elementary Teachers Certificate in 1951. On September 4, 1956 Jo married Richard James Snyder in New Hampton, IA. Throughout her life she worked as a realtor for various brokers, owned a Sears merchandise and catalog store in Waseca, spent 15 years as an elementary school teacher, and spent three years working in the ticket office for the Minnesota Twins. Most recently she worked part-time as a manufacturers representative in the dried flower business. Jo was a former member of the Waterville Chamber of Commerce, Lakeside Golf Club in Waseca, and the Faribault Area Realtors Association. She was also a member of the Waterville Evangelical United Methodist Church, was an avid reader, and spent countless hours volunteering for Meals On Wheels.
Jo is survived by three children, Jim (Annette) Snyder of Waterville, Scott (Monique) Snyder of Waseca, and Mary Jo Snyder and her partner Carrie Feyler of Middleton, NH; and five grandchildren, Samantha, Alex, and Benjamin Snyder, and Drew and Jack Feyler. She was preceded in death by both of her parents and her husband.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at the Waterville Evangelical United Methodist Church with Rev. Stefanie Morgan officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour before the service at the church. Interment will follow at Sakatah Cemetery in Waterville.
