CAROL ELLENORA GAHLER, age 85, died peacefully on Sunday morning, April 26, 2020 at her home in Janesville.
Carol was born on November 29, 1934, to Wayne and Ellenora (Fixsen) Krause. She grew up on a farm south of Hanley Falls. She attended grade school in Seaforth and graduated from Hanley Falls High School with the class of 1952. Carol furthered her education at Mankato State Teachers College graduating in 1956. Following her education Carol began working at Janesville High School. On August 22, 1959, Carol was united in marriage to Wilbert John Gahler at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville. Together they made their home in Janesville, raising their three children while operating Will’s Radio and TV Business. Carol and Will shared 59 years together before Will passed away on February 6, 2019.
Carol was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville, AAL/Thrivent board, Merry Martha’s, and chairperson on the Park Road Plaza’s Board of Commissioners for many years. She enjoyed gardening, bowling, archery, reading and refunding for Trinity Lutheran School library books. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Carol will be remembered for large gardens with raspberries and being a great Mom! Blessed be her memory.
Carol is survived by her children: Rhonda (Mike) Omtvedt of Madison Lake, Aaron (Dianne) Gahler of Elysian, and Nadine (Jeff) Formo of Starbuck; grandsons: Brandon (Julia) Omtvedt, Bryce, Brady, and Brett Omtvedt, Anthony, Brett, and Caleb Formo; great grandchildren: Parker and Finn Omtvedt; siblings: Lauren Krause of Redwood Falls; brother-in-law: Ernie (Betty) Gahler of Janesville; sisters-in-law: Anita Risto of Waseca, Beatrice Tiegs of LeSueur, and Betty Gahler of Gaylord. She was preceded in death by her parents: Wayne and Ellenora Krause; husband, Will Gahler; sister-in-law: Sandy Krause; brother-in-law: Herbert Gahler.
Private family services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville, and will be livestreamed by the church on their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/trinityjanesville/ beginning at 11:00am on Friday, May 1, 2020. Utilizing appropriate social distancing, public graveside services will be held at Janesville Cemetery shortly after 12:00pm on Friday, May 1, 2020.
