Carl O. Wobschall, age 85 of Waseca, died on Friday, October 10, 2008 at Lake Shore Inn, Waseca. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 18th at 2:00 p.m. at McRaith Funeral Home in Waseca with Rev. Vicki Hultine officiating. Interment with military honors will be in the Woodville Cemetery. The Wobschall Family will greet friends on Saturday afternoon from 12:30 until the hour of service at the funeral home. Carl Orvel was born on October 18, 1922 in Waseca, Minnesota to Emil and Ellen (Johnson) Wobschall. Carl attended Waseca High School, and later Mankato Normal School. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. On July 29, 1944 he was united in marriage to Norma Frank at St. John Lutheran Church in Waseca. Carl and Norma lived for a short time at Ft. Snelling in St. Paul where Carl worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs. They returned to Waseca, where over the years Carl was employed with the railroad and later with various local companies including E.F. Johnson Co, Herters Inc., Delta Truck Bodies, and Brown Printing. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Waseca. Carl, known to his friends as "Sleepy", was a very active member of Waseca American Legion #228. He enjoyed singing and dancing, his participation with the local Barbershop group, and marching with the American Legion for various events. He is survived by his wife Norma; by his children Norman (Marguerite) Wobschall of Fair Oaks, CA, Cheryl (Larry) Neid of Waseca, Charlie (Kathleen) Wobschall of Waseca, and Bonnie Wobschall of Citrus Heights, CA; by his four grandchildren Ben (Angie) Wobschall, Brandy (Darin) Tanaka, Jared (Natalie) Ruedy, and Bailey Wobschall; by his three great grandchildren Heather, Teya, and Nick. He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter Connie Wobschall; by three sisters Lorraine, Clara, and Florence and his brother Clarence.
