Bonnie (Nichtern) Wilson, 71, Waseca, Minn., died Thursday, December 10, 2020 peacefully in her home from complications of a recent heart surgery.
Bonnie Deborah Nichtern was born on September 25, 1949 in Waseca, Minn., to Gerald and Dorothy (Dietrich) Nichtern. She was the oldest of four children and grew up on the family farm outside of Waseca. Bonnie graduated high school in 1967 from Waseca High School. She went on to live in Wyoming and Utah and later moved to Keizer, OR where she spent much of her adult life. In August 2019, Bonnie moved home to Waseca to be closer to her family.
Bonnie had a special place in her heart for animals — she had many dogs and cats who were well-loved. Her current cat, Allie, has been a faithful companion to her these past few years. Bonnie was also a talented gardener who created a beautiful flower garden in her backyard in Oregon. She had a passion for crafting, she especially enjoyed making gifts for others. Bonnie was a person that many turned to for advice. If she didn’t know the answer, she would certainly help you find it. Although Bonnie struggled with her own health issues for many years, she was always concerned about the health and well-being of her friends and family. She especially cared for her brother, David, and her sister, Becky. Bonnie would laugh until her whole body shook and loved sharing childhood stories with her niece and nephews. She will be greatly missed.
Bonnie is survived by her brother, David (Gloria) Nichtern of Starbuck, Minn.; her sister, Becky (Gary) Anderson of Waseca, Minn.; her nephews, Chris (Connie) Nichtern of Fargo, N.D. and Kyle (Katie) Nichtern of Lowry, Minn.; and her niece, Kelly (Eric) Heyer of Fargo, N.D. She is also survived by 10 great-nephews and nieces; aunts, Mary Ann Swanson and Esther Dietrich; and many cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Timothy Nichtern.
A memorial service is planned for Friday, December 18 at 2 p.m. at the Starbuck Funeral Home. Following CDC guidelines we ask guests are limited to close family and masks be worn.
