Betty (Schnoor) Shilts May 3, 1943 - December 27, 2010

Betty Ann Shilts, age 67 of Mankato, died on Monday, December 27, 2010 at Immanuel St. Josephs Mayo Health System in Mankato, after fighting a long illness of Multiple Sclerosis. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Hosanna Lutheran Church in Mankato with Rev. Dr. Larry Griffin officiating. Interment will be in the St. John''s - Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Iosco Township, Waseca County. Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home and Crematory of Janesville is in charge of arrangements. Betty's family will greet friends prior to the service on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Hosanna Lutheran Church in Mankato. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to donor''s choice. Betty Ann (Schnoor) Shilts was born on May 3, 1943 to Harry and Erma (Manthey) Schnoor in Waseca, Minnesota. Betty attended Trinity Lutheran School in Janesville and graduated from St. Clair High School in 1961. She married Earl Schlie in 1961, they later divorced. Betty worked in food service for many years. She was employed with Shopko in Mankato for 5 years, and then went into home health care until multiple sclerosis sent her into early retirement. Betty''s love for her daughters, grandchildren and special friends kept her going. She enjoyed reading, and writing letters. Betty loved her time spent with friends from Hosanna Lutheran Church. In 2004 she moved to Willow Point Senior Living in North Mankato. In 2008 she moved to Oaklawn Health Care Center in Mankato were she made many friends and was very active. Betty would like this time to be a celebration of her life, and remember her as enjoying her family and friends to the fullest. Betty is survived by her three daughters; Vonda (Jon) Nowak of Pemberton, Beth (Rudy) Kleist of North Mankato and Kandi Weisgerber and special friend Darrel Hemingway of St. Peter; by her six grandchildren, Mitch and Ben Kleist, Montana and Morgan Weisgerber and Hunter and Emma Nowak; by her special friends Joyce and Eugene Bruender; and by many other relatives and friends. She was met in heaven by her parents. Honorary Bearers are Betty''s grandchildren; Mitch and Ben Kleist, Montana and Morgan Weisgerber and Hunter and Emma Nowak.
