BETTY LOU HARVEY, age 89 of Waseca, Minnesota, died on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at the Lake Shore Inn in Waseca.
Born on August 15, 1928 in Birmingham, Alabama, she was the daughter of Lonnie and Ruby (Lawrence) Patterson. She married Heymar Baker in New Orleans, LA in 1948 and they were later divorced. Betty Lou married Richard Lee Harvey on November 18, 1954 in Detroit, MI.
Betty Lou was a multitalented woman who took great joy in singing, stitching, painting and decorating. She taught ceramics classes for many years and she made hundreds of wedding and special occasion cakes, bringing joy to countless families. She was also very personable. Her faith in God and her Lord, Jesus Christ gave her a zeal for life. She never met a stranger who didnt quickly become a friend and if you did not have plans for any holiday then her door was always open. Betty Lou was a member of Christ Community Church in Waseca and the Red Hat Club.
She is survived by her children, Judy (LeRoy) Nielsen, Timothy (Kathie) Harvey, Charlsie Holmes, Michael (Jayne) Harvey, and Paul (Lynette) Harvey; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings, Robert Patterson, Carol Wallace, and David Patterson; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Heymar Baker; sisters, Brenda Howard and Debbie Glen; sisters-in-law, Sharon Patterson and Beverly Patterson; and two granddaughters. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at 7:00 PM at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 6:00 PM until the time of services at the funeral home. Burial will be at Memory Lane Memorial Park in Crown Point, IN.
