Betty Bronstien March 20, 1927 - November 29, 2011
Betty Jane Bronstien, age 84 of Faribault and formerly of Northfield, passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at the Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis after a very brief illness with her foster parents, Doug Frydenlund and Karen Thomas and her guardian Mark Shaw at her side. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 4, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault with Rabbi Esther Adler of Mount Zion Temple in St. Paul, officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 5th at Mount Zion Cemetery, St. Paul. Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory on Sunday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Betty lived at Laura Baker services for many years in Northfield, where she attended Epic Enterprises and Vital Link day programs. In 2001 she moved to Faribault and became part of the Thomas-Frydenlund family. She loved being part of family gatherings, paying particular attention to all of the grandchildren. She often would join them for a swim, which she did as recent as the summer of 2011 at age 84. Betty loved dogs, children and painting. She was a good artist and won many ribbons at the different county and state fairs. She wanted everyone to look at her work and take their favorite. Betty also enjoyed plays, music and Ice Shows. She was an avid traveler, making many trips to Europe, the Orient and her favorite trip, Walt Disney World. She also liked to shop and would bring many gifts home from her travels for her friends. Betty attended monthly classes at the Jewish Learning Center in St. Paul along with celebrating Jewish Holidays there as well. She is survived by her cousins, Edward (Rosemary) Bronstien, Lewis "Buddy" Bronstien, Donna Shapiro and Lois Jacobs; by her foster family, Doug Frydenlund and Karen Thomas, Scott Thomas, Stacy and Matt Knutson, Kris and Bill Dublin and Anne Thomas, and also by their children who she loved very much and enjoyed spending time with, and by her special friend and guardian Mark Shaw. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Rosalund Bronstien, by her sister, Lorraine Miller and by her brother-in-law, Lewis B. Miller.
