Bertrand "Bert" G. Mulcahey, lifelong resident of rural Janesville died peacefully Thursday evening, January 19, 2017 at the Janesville Nursing Home at the age of 91.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM on Monday, January 23rd at St. Ann Catholic Church in Janesville. Interment will be in St. Ann Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 5:00 PM on Sunday, January 22nd at Starkson & Steffel Funeral & Cremation Services ~ Arnoldt Chapel in Janesville with a rosary service beginning at 5:00 PM. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the Mass at the church on Monday. Memorials are preferred to Mayo Clinic Hospice.

Bert Gerard, the son of James and Alice (Jewison) Mulcahey was born on October 11, 1925, in Mankato. He attended Janesville Public Schools where he participated in football and graduated with the class of 1944.
On November 24, 1954, he was united in marriage to Sylvia Gregor at St. Canice Catholic Church in Kilkenny. Bert lived and farmed his entire life on the Mulcahey family farm in Janesville where they raised their children Theresa and Tom.
Bert and Sylvia loved to travel; going to all 50 states, Ireland and Germany included. Bert loved to farm until retiring in 1990. He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, where he was a trustee, the Knights of Columbus and belonged to the Farmers Union. He enjoyed pheasant hunting, being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, he even loved to garden.
Bert is survived by his children: Theresa (Jeff) Danberry of Janesville, and Tom Mulcahey of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; his grandchildren: Jackie (Chris) Simonson and their children, Dakodah and Chay of Mankato; Shawn (Brandis) Danberry and their children: Cooper, Cash and Rhylynn of Janesville; Ashley Mulcahey of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, Jim Mulcahey and his children: Jim, Brayden and Emilynn currently stationed with the Army in Ft. Bragg, GA.
He is also survived by his brother, Pat Mulcahey of St. Clair Shores, MI; sisters: Marie Maxwell of Rochester and Sr. Germaine Mulcahey of Mankato; sisters-in-law, Gen Mulcahey of Janesville, Joan "Jody" Gregor of Waterville and Lucille Gregor of Waseca; brother-in-law, Arland (Carol) Gregor of Minnesota Lake; many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Alice; his loving wife Sylvia; brothers: Robert (Lill), James "Jimmy", and Jerry; sister, Peg Miller (Lynch); brothers-in-law: Evert Maxwell, Jerry Miller, Charles Gregor and Bernard Gregor; sisters-in-law: Florance Mulcahey, Bernice Groh and Francis Groh.
