Beatrice Ramirez
BEATRICE (MELENDREZ) RAMIREZ, age 70 of Waseca, went to be with her Jesus on Thursday, July 13, 2017.
Born in Pueblo, CO, on September 18, 1946, Bea was the daughter of Sixto and Damiana (Vasquez) Ramirez. She was the fifth of six siblings. Although she moved frequently during her younger years she completed much of her schooling in Lubbock, TX. In 1963 Bea married Paul Melendrez, Sr. and together they raised four children. They later divorced. Bea later married Thomas Burtis and they made their home together until his death in 2000. Over the years she worked as a telephone operator, amongst a variety of other jobs. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, scrapbooking, making jewelry, and going to garage sales and thrift shops. She also enjoyed watching "Fixer-Upper" and anything on the Food Network. Her very favorite things to do, though, were to go out to eat and spend time with her family. She spent many hours volunteering at the Federal Prison in Waseca. Bea worshipped at Christian Assembly in Waseca, where she was a mentor to many because she loved to talk about Jesus. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Beatrice is survived by four children, Paul Melendrez, Jr. of Waseca, Lisa (Russ) Rinehart of Waseca, Debbie Melendrez and her fiancé Dustin Culbertson of Waseca, and Elaine (Jim) Tetzloff of Waseca; nine grandchildren, April, Cody, Wyatt, Justin, Nathan, Brittany, Christian, Elicia, and Isaiah; and eleven great-grandchildren; she is also survived by one brother, Joe Vasquez Ramirez of Temple, TX; and one sister, Anselma De Leon of Visalia, CA.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, July 17, 2017 at the Waseca Christian Assembly, with Rev. Brad Wickersheim officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00am until the time of the service at the church. Interment will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.
