Austin R. Grant

Austin R. Grant, 15 years old, of Waseca died unexpectedly on November 20, 2016, in Waseca.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at 11:30 AM at The Church of the Sacred Heart in Waseca. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Waseca. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the Mass at the church on Wednesday. Memorials are preferred.

Arrangements are with the Starkson & Steffel Funeral & Cremation Service ~ McRaith Chapel in Waseca.

Austin Ray Grant was born on December 7, 2000, in Faribault to Richard Grant and Cathy Mlenek. When Austin was three years old he moved with his mom to Luck, WI. In 2013, Austin returned to the Waterville/Waseca area where he was attending the Waseca Alternative Learning Center. Although his presence was only felt for a short time, the impact he made will live on with his family and friends for many years to come.

Austin was a lover of the outdoors where he enjoyed fishing, skateboarding and biking. He had a singing voice that could fill up a room and is remembered by his siblings as an awesome playmate even when it came to playing Barbie’s with his little sisters. During his time at the ALC in Waseca he was an excellent student, loved by his many friends and teachers. He was a awesome kid.

Austin will be deeply missed by his parents: Richard (Jennifer) Grant of Medford, Cathy (Gary Rousey) Sistad of Waseca; step-parents Rick Sistad of Luck, WI and Christina Grant of Buffalo; siblings: Johanna Mlenek, Abigail, Alexander, Allan, Aiden and Andy Grant; grandparents: Ray and Bonnie Mlenek of Waseca, Gene and Stacy Grant of Faribault, Sharon (PAPPY LaCroix) Grant of Medford; aunts and uncles: Tricia, Jesse, Nina, and Jordan Grant, Cindi Leckenby and Mark (Belinda Mlenek); special friend, Jade;many cousins, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his great grandparents: Harold and Audrey Schmidt; cousins: Lacy VanVeldhuizen and Malorie Mlenek; his special friend’s mother, Diana Balderas.
