Audrey C. Schmidt, age 89, of Waseca passed away on Thursday, May 05, 2016 at St. Mary''s Hospital in Rochester surrounded by her family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 9, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca with Father Gregory Leif officiating. Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Waseca.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the service at the church on Monday.
Arrangements are being completed by McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory in Waseca.
Audrey Clara, daughter of Albert and Ellen (Anderson) Neidt, was born on September 9, 1926 in Waseca, Minnesota. They lovingly nicknamed her "honey bug or "bug", a name that stayed with her through the years. She graduated from Waseca High School in 1944 and was then married to Harold "Hon" Schmidt on June 6, 1944 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca. They were blessed with seven children. They lived on the Reibold family farm for over 50 years. She was a farmer''s wife and mother. Audrey was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the Waseca Historical Society.
Audrey is survived by her daughter, Bonnie (Ray) Mlenek of Waseca; five sons, Jim Schmidt of Waseca, John (Mary) Schmidt of Cushing, MN, William (Debbie) Schmidt, Todd Schmidt (and friend, Tae), and Randy (Twyla) Schmidt, all of Waseca; 14 grandchildren, Brian (Cheryl) Schmidt, Tim (Sheri) Schmidt, Dan Schmidt, Cody Schmidt, Casey Schmidt, Cindi Leckenby, Cathy Sistad, Mark (Belinda) Mlenek, Jason (Angie) Schmidt, Kelsey Schmidt, Marisa (Kevin) Woitas, Colby (Jenni) Schmidt, Chris (Shara) Schmidt, and Katie (Joel) Kunz; 21 great grandchildren, Jonathan Leckenby, Alysha Leckenby, Alexander Grant, Noah Schmidt, Abby Mlenek, MacKenna Schmidt, Austin Grant, Johanna Mlenek, John Mlenek, Braeden Woitas, Jacob Mlenek, Jaxen Woitas, Brooklyn Schmidt, Nolan Woitas, Kiera Schmidt, Iva Schmidt, Roslyn Schmidt, Gavin
Kunz, Graham Schmidt, Amelia Kunz, and Adalyn Schmidt; great great grandchild, Ava Leckenby; 3 step grandchildren, Mike (Crystal) Kopischke, Jennifer Kopischke, and Mark (Mary) Kopischke; 2 step great grandchildren, Emma and Olivia Kopischke; sister, Romelle (Bob) Deef; several nieces and nephews; and by many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold in 2012; son, Michael in 2004; two great grandchildren, Malorie Mlenek in 1999 and Grace Woitas in 2004; parents; brothers, Chester, Gervase, Glen, Norman, Daryl, and Dalys; and sisters, Ruthlyn, Anna, Nadine, and one sister in infancy.
