Arlene Louise Buker

ARLENE LOUISE BUKER, age 87 of Waseca, passed away at her home on Saturday, October 1, 2022.

Born on the family farm in Wasioja Township, Dodge County, Minnesota on December 26, 1934, Arlene was the daughter of Arnold and Rosalie (Ohm) Scherger. She was baptized on January 20, 1935 by Pastor Arndt at Grace Lutheran Church in Dodge Center. She attended grades one through six at a country school and grades seven and eight at Grace Lutheran Parochial School in Dodge Center. She later graduated from the Dodge Center High School with the class of 1952. She worked at Federated Mutual Insurance Company in Owatonna from 1952 until 1957. Arlene married Duane Buker on September 26, 1956 at Grace Lutheran Church in Dodge Center. They lived on the Buker home farm place in Woodville township. She enjoyed taking care of flowers, gardening, sewing, music, and family genealogy. She was a church organist at St. Paul Lutheran in Waseca for 42 years, and she was active with the Ladies Aid and the counting committee. She was also a long time member of the Waseca County Extension Club.

Arlene is survived by three children, Berniece (Tod) Magnuson of Roseville, Sharon (Richard) Goetz of Waseca, and Roger Buker of Waseca; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one brother, Norbert (Deloris) Scherger of Dodge Center; one brother-in-law, Donald (JoAnn) Radue of Preston; and many nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends. She was preceded in death by both of her parents; her husband; and one sister, Marcella Radue.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at the Third Street chapel of Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Service, and will continue for one hour before the service at the church on Thursday.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca, with Rev. Bob Lund officiating. Interment will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.
