Arlene Leona Thoreson

ARLENE LEONA THORESON, age 101 of Rochester, formerly of Waseca died on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Meadow Lakes Assisted Living in Rochester.

Born on August 10, 1919 in Wilton Township, Waseca County, Minnesota, she was the daughter of Max and Agnes (Holtz) Schoenfeld. She attended rural Waseca County School District #90. Arlene married Kenneth Thoreson on June 11, 1941 at Trinity Lutheran Church-Wilton. Together they lived and farmed in rural Waseca County. Arlene also worked as a cook at the Waseca Hospital for over 20 years. Arlene enjoyed sewing and gardening. She was a long time member of North Waseca Lutheran Church and was currently a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Byron.

She is survived by three children, Mavis (Richard) Perry of Stewartville, Keith (Cheryl) Thoreson of Fridley, and Candace (Jim Bergsrud) McBroom of Rochester; nine grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two siblings, Delila Enzenauer and Emery Schoenfeld.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 1, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Christ Lutheran Church in Byron. Visitation will be held on Monday, one hour before services at the church. Burial will follow at North Waseca Lutheran Cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to Christ Lutheran Church in Byron or North Waseca Lutheran Church.
