ARDIS MARIE STEEL, age 93, of St. Clair, died on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at Laurels Peak in Mankato.
Born on April 30, 1927, in New Ulm, to Alexander and Elizabeth (Dahlmann) Seifert of Springfield. Ardis graduated from Springfield High School in 1945 and went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Sciences from the College of St. Theresa in Winona in 1949. Ardis began her long career as a social worker on March 15, 1949, with Blue Earth County Welfare. On October 19, 1957, Ardis was united in marriage to Marvin Nicholas Steel at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Springfield. Ardis and Marv made their home in St. Clair, and Ardis continued her employment with Blue Earth County until June of 1960, when she went to work with the St. Peter State Hospital. She retired on June 30, 1987 after 27 years of service. Over the years, Ardis volunteered her time with the Blue Earth County Red Cross. She was an active member of the St. Theresa Alumni Association, the St. Raphael Catholic Order of Foresters in Springfield, Retired State Hospital Employees, the Weavers support group in Mankato, St. Clair American Legion Auxiliary, and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Clair where she served as a commissioned Eucharistic Minister for many years. Ardis enjoyed her family and friends, reading, walking, working in the yard, and her many travels with her husband Marv throughout the country and abroad.
Ardis is survived by many nieces and nephews other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by her loving husband on April 30, 2007; two brothers: Robert (Catherine) Seifert, and James (Dorothy) Seifert; sister, Dorothy (A.A.) Dymond; brothers-in-law: Stanley (Doris) Steel, Edwin (Faith) Steel; sisters-in-law: Bernadine (Raymond) Swee and Bernita Steel.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:30 PM on Saturday, January 9, 2021, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Clair with Fr. Robert Schneider as Celebrant. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the Mass at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery.
