Ardis A.M. Wilke November 7, 1915 - May 1, 2016
Ardis A.M. Wilke, age 100, of Janesville passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2016 at the Janesville Nursing Home surrounded by loved ones.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville with Pastor Larry Griffin and Pastor Paul Muther officiating. Interment will be held at the Janesville City Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Arnoldt- McRaith Funeral Home in Janesville and for one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
Ardis Adele Mae was born on November 7, 1915 in Mapleton Township, Blue Earth County, Minnesota at her grandparents'' home to Peter and Florence (Ware) Hasher. She attended rural schools. She was a homemaker and a farmer. On September 2, 1947, she married Edward Tietz at First Lutheran Church in Waldorf. Together, they farmed at several locations until buying the farm in rural Janesville. Edward passed away in 1962. She later married Frederick Wilke on August 19, 1972 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville. Fred passed away in 2004.
Ardis was a member of Trinity Lutherans for Life, Trinity Quilters, sang in the church choir for many years and was a charter member of Trinity Lutheran Dorcas Society. She was an avid pro-life worker and was president of Waseca County Citizens Concerned for Life for several years. Ardis was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved flowers, quilting, reading, crocheting, writing poetry, listening to music, and spending time with her family and friends. She was an active member of the community doing volunteer work for many organizations, family, and friends.
Ardis is survived by son, Butch (Monica) Wilke of Porter, MN; daughters, Marcyne Cahill of Waseca and Karen (Danny) Oftedahl of Pemberton; eight grandchildren, Jeffrey (Kristin) Wilke, Kristofer (Charlotte) Wilke, Joseph (Gail) Cahill, Sarah (Jeffrey) Backman, Jennifer
(Scott) Overland, Julie (Scott) Dowty, Katherine Oftedahl, Nicole Oftedahl (fianc, Jared); fourteen great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and by many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; and brother, Arthur Hasher.
