Ardes Leone, the daughter of Christian and Olga (Larsen) Laursen, was born in Ellendale, MN in 1917. She attended the Ellendale School and graduated high school in 1934. She married Maynard Siemers, a teacher and coach, in 1940 and moved to Faribault in 1942. She worked as a homemaker until the late 1950''s when she began part time work in school cafeterias. Accepting increased responsibilities over the next few years, she eventually became director of the Faribault School District''s food service programs. She retired from the position in 1982. Ardes was an active community member. She volunteered at her children''s schools and was Cub Scout and brownie adult leader. She was a member of the congregation at the Cathedral of Our Merciful Saviour for seventy years, serving on the altar guild, singing in the choir, and teaching Sunday school. Always very social, Ardes had many friends and like to "visit" every day. She was an avid reader and instilled a love of books in her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed playing cards and was a member of many bridge clubs over the years. She also enjoyed golf and was a long time member of the Faribault Country Club. She loved to travel and took many trips
abroad and in this country. She especially enjoyed trips with her children and visits to see her grandchildren. Her simple advice to one and all was to, "Be Good" and took her own advice to heart.
She is survived by her two children, Kaye Siemers of Denver, CO and William (Jo) Siemers of Northfield; her two grandchildren, Martha (Noah) Siemers-Richardson of San Francisco, CA and Gretchen Siemers of Los Angeles, CA and by her two great grandchildren, Adele and Elsa and by other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Maynard Siemers, her son Gary Siemers, her sisters Evelyn Bambury, Mavis Berggren and Della Yanke, and daughter-in- law Kathleen Siemers.
