Archie was born October 24, 1922 to Ed and Velma (Bryson) Baumann on the family farm in Bagley MN. He attended school in Ruffy Brook and Bagley MN.
Archie joined the US Navy, where he served from 1942 – 1945.
On July 1, 1942 Archie married Violet Anderson in Cumberland, MD and together raised their five children.
Archie’s career throughout his lifetime included the Navy, Co-op store in Weme, MN, MN Farmers Union, running for the 6th District Congress, Green Thumb, and many more.
He was a member at Medo Lutheran Church, and an active volunteer for the senior citizens, and the local food shelf with Violet.
Archie was a life-long cartoonist for many papers, the Senior Spotlight Magazine, MN Senior News and his book, “The Generation Gap”. He was a talented wood worker, and even built a lake home in the 1970’s and a tree house on Bass Lake. Some of the fondest memories shared by family and friends are pontoon rides, family reunions, cartoons on paper plates, Draper Tower, sledding down the hill and snowmobiling during the winter months, playing “I see a bear”, and even going to the dump to watch for the bears!
He will be remembered for his Ole & Lena jokes, singing the “Tennessee Bird Walk”, telling everyone to keep smiling and always holding Vi’s hand!
Archie and Vi resided at the Janesville Nursing Home, lived in the same room and still held hands just like they were newlyweds. They showed us all their true testament of love for each other.
He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Violet; children; Kay (Bud) Cochran, Dennis (Diane) Baumann, Debra (Charles) Amunrud, Connie (Lonny) Piche; 14 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Peterson; son-in-law, Lonnie Buschow; with many dear friends and family.
