Anthony 'Tony' Sybilrud
ANTHONY WENDELL SYBILRUD, age 89 of Waseca died on Sunday, May 10, 2015 at the Oaklawn Health Care Center in Mankato.
Born on December 18, 1925 in New Richland, Minnesota, he was the son of Albert and Tillie (Olsen) Sybilrud.  He graduated from Waseca High School and served in the US Navy as a Radioman 2nd Class stationed in London until his honorable discharge.  Tony married Ruth Bosacker on July 26, 1947 in Waterville.  He attended the MN School of Business and over the years worked as an insurance agent, at the EF Johnson Co., as sports editor for the Waseca Daily News and manager of the Waseca Lakeside Club.  He enjoyed sports of all kinds, especially watching his son and grandchildren.  He loved listening to music, golfing, hunting and fishing.  Tony had several labs and retrievers, one of which he trained to be controlled with handheld radios.  He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, VFW Post 1642, Lakeside Golf Club, National Associated Press, and was co-founder of the Waseca Basketball Association.  
He is survived by his wife, Ruth of Waseca; one daughter, Toni (Linden) Bauleke of Waseca; one son, James (Cheryl Manthe) Sybilrud of Eden Prairie; eight grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Albert (Rosemary) Sybilrud Jr.; sisters, Alice (Arnie) Hawkins, Helen (Frank) Skillen, Ruth Opstein, JoAnne (John) Tuthill, and Dorothy (Warren) Thomson.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 from 4-8 PM at Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca and continue on Thursday, one hour before services.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca.  Burial will follow at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. 
Memorials are preferred to Leukema Association, the Wounded Veterans Association, Grace Lutheran Church, or Hospice.
