Anna Cortez May 22, 1958 - January 28, 2009

Anna M. Cortez, age 50, of Faribault, died Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at St. Mary''s Hospital in Rochester. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault, with Bernadette Tatge, Pastoral Minister at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, officiating. Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home on Saturday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Anna Marie Thomas, the daughter of Sylvester Sr. and Beatrice (Kotek) Thomas, was born on May 22, 1958 in Faribault, MN. She attended Faribault High School. On December 26, 1988 she was united in marriage to Fidel Cortez in Faribault. Anna worked at More 4 Foods in Northfield for eight years and later worked for nine years at Jerome Foods in Faribault. Anna enjoyed spending her free time shopping. She is survived by her husband, Fidel "Peewee" Cortez of Faribault; by three brothers, Sylvester Jr. (Linda) Thomas of Kenyon, Lee (Linda) Thomas of New Prague and Robert Thomas of Faribault; by five sisters, Irene (Rodney) Little, Sandy Thomas, Sharon (Robert) Miller, Mary Ann Thomas and Joan (Dale) Brooks, all of Faribault and by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and by an infant sister, Darlene Thomas.
