Ann Sandberg

Ann Sandberg May 29, 1921 - February 22, 2009

Ann Marie Sandberg, age 87, originally of Bemidji, MN and later of Faribault died on Sunday, February 22, 2009, at United Hospital in St. Paul. A private family service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are with the Parker Kohl Funeral Home of Faribault. Annadell Marie Blackburn, the daughter of Harry and Mary (Wesley) Blackburn, was born on May 29, 1921 in Bemidji. She graduated from Bemidji High School in 1939 and worked as a dental assistant until she was married to Roy Sandberg in September of 1944. They had one child, Michael. Ann was a housewife until Roy passed away in 1962. She then worked in the St. Phillip''s school kitchen and the Bemidji State University cafeteria. Following her retirement, Ann worked as a foster grandparent and was the "candy gram" at the Gilfillan Center for a number of years. As her health failed, she moved to Faribault to be closer to her son and his family. Ann was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Katherine; her brothers, James, Wesley (Mike), and Gene; and her husband, Roy. She is survived by her son, Michael Sandberg; her grandson, John Sandberg (and Danielle) of Mankato; her granddaughter, Michelle (and Bryan) Cole of Faribault; two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, and many friends.
