ANITA JUNE SOUTHWICK, age 80 of Janesville, was called home by her savior during the night on Monday, November 21, 2022 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.
Born in Waseca on June 21, 1942, Anita was the daughter of Elmer and Edna (Kath) Bartz. She attended school in Waseca and graduated with the class of 1960 before continuing her education at the Mankato Business School. On February 11, 1961, Anita was married to Donald Frank Southwick at St. John Lutheran Church in Waseca. She worked for many years at the E.F. Johnson Company before finishing her working years at Itron in Waseca. She enjoyed being outdoors in any way she could: fishing, hunting, camping, snowmobiling, four-wheeling, boating were favorite activities. She also liked to attend garage sales, go swimming and hot tubbing, and travel throughout the US with friends and family… particularly heading up north. She loved living on the lake and was very proud of her family’s home there. More than anything else in the world, however, Anita loved to spend time with her friends and family. She was an incredibly devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Anita is survived by three children, Donnie (Denise) Southwick of Waterville, Dawn (Lane) Hothus of Janesville, and Mike (Kari) Southwick of Janesville; eight grandchildren, Brandi (Keen) Roeker, Brooke (Phil) Nienow, Shelby (Kyle) Ketchmark, Chris Holthus, Miranda Southwick, Kara (Jorge) Zimprich, Marissa Southwick, and Kortney Southwick; nine great-grandchildren; and five siblings, Mike (Judy) Bartz of Waseca, Bonnie (Dick) Kern of Mankato, Dick (Lavonne) Bartz of Waseca, Bradley (Joan) Bartz of Waseca, Dennis (Marcia) Bartz of Waseca. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one grandson, Dan Holthus.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville, with Rev. Ted Andrada officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the church. Interment will follow at Alma City Cemetery.
