Alex Donald Stewart

ALEX DONALD STEWART, 37 years old, son of Barbara Erwin-Perkins & Duane Perkins and son of Larry Stewart passed away on Friday, July 7, 2023, after suffering a heart attack as a result of a severe asthma attack. 

Alex was born in Mankato, MN on December 18, 1985. He graduated from Waseca High School. Alex spent his childhood growing up in Waseca, MN. He loved being close to his Grandma Lorraine Erwin’s house and the fun times at Clear Lake Park. He moved to Owatonna after he graduated from Waseca High School. Alex had a natural artistic ability from a young age, his love of drawing meant he spent most of his free time drawing, he would often be drawing when he should have been doing his chores! Alex was kind, generous and giving friend, he would help a friend at a moments notice, even if it meant him going without. His generosity and kindness will live on in others. Alex was an organ donor which is in accordance with his wishes, this was Alex’s last act of kindness. 

Alex is survived by his parents, Barb and Duane Perkins of Owatonna, MN, and Larry Stewart of Owatonna, MN. He is also survived by his siblings, Dustin (Alicia) Stewart, Caleb Stewart, Bryanna (Samuel) Rowley; step-sister, Jessie Perkins-Gagnier (Rick) of Owatonna, MN; half-brother, Sean Fuller (Michelle) of TX; nieces and nephews, Grace and Dakota Stewart, Julian Rowley, Reese Abraham and Lincoln Gagnier, Tatum Fuller of TX; a large extended family of many aunts, uncles and cousins; and his sunshine/soulmate, Kelly Tysdale.

Alex was preceded in death by his grandparents, Don and Lorraine Erwin, Denny and Delores Perkins and Louie and Pricilla Stewart; uncles, Al Sorenson, Carl Stewart; aunt, Diane Erwin; cousins Laysha Erwin, Sawyer Krohnberg; infant cousins, Benjamin Reed-Prehn, Chad Quam.    

Memorial services for Alex will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 12,2023 at Sacred Heart Church in Waseca. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Waseca. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
