Alan George Humphries

April 23, 1943 — March 16, 2020

ALAN GEORGE HUMPHRIES, age 76, of Waseca died on Monday afternoon, March 16, 2020, at his home with his family by his side.

Alan was born on April 23, 1943, in Vancouver, B.C. Canada, to Hank and Margaret (McDonald-Gardiner) Humphries. He attended Edmonds High School in Edmonds, WA. Following his education Al was drafted into the United States Army in 1965, and honorably served his country during the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge, Al returned home to Seattle, Washington in 1968. In the early 1970’s, Al moved to Minnesota where he began working as a truck driver at the scrap yard in Owatonna. On May 14, 1987, Al was united in marriage to Diane Hansen and together they made their home in Waseca. For over 30 years, Al worked in the masonry business, retiring in 2005. He was gratified by the work he did over those years. He never missed the opportunity to inspect and comment on any brick or concrete work he passed by.

He was a member of the Waseca VFW. Al was an avid sports fan, especially auto racing. He enjoyed telling stories, watching the birds and feeding the birds and squirrels. Al’s passion in life was working on cars as he spent countless hours building his 1929 Ford Roadster from scratch. A feat he was incredibly proud of. It was truly a display of his ingenuity, melding parts from many different vehicles and pieces needed along the way. He cherished the time he spent with his wife, son’s and his grandchildren. His Golden Years were made especially bright by the addition of his Granddaughter.

Alan is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Diane; sons: Jeremy and Raymond (Jenny Dulas); grandchildren: David and Leighton; brother, Robert Fuhrman; sister, Cathy VanSickle; nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Internment will take place on a later date in Union Cemetery at Blooming Prairie Township, Steele County with Military Honors.
