Adolph 'Ike' Rindelaub
ADOLPH MICHAEL "IKE" RINDELAUB, age 88 of Alexandria, formerly of Waseca, died on Saturday, January 19, 2019 in Alexandria.
Born in Mankato on December 29, 1930, Adolph was the son of Adolph H. and Agnes C. (Kreutzer) Rindelaub. He was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mankato, confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Waseca, and graduated from Waseca High School in 1949. He served in the US Army and was a Korean war veteran.
He graduated from Dunwoody Baking School. In 1956, he became a partner in Rindelaub's Bakery in Waseca with Ike, Sr. and Agnes Rindelaub. He became sole owner in 1972 operating the business until he happily retired in 1980. He was the last of three generations of Rindelaub bakers and was one of six Rindelaub Bakery owners which sprang from his Godfather, Charlie Steiner and his Grandfather's Mankato Bread Baking Company. The Mankato Bread Bakery may have been the first to slice and wrap bread in southern Minnesota. It was also the first to have bakery trucks serving southern Minnesota. Ike's legacy was his gift for making decorated cakes and delicious glazed donuts. He was deeply grateful for the creativity, sweat, and long hours given by the greatest skilled bakery employees in the business between 1935 and 1980. They were the best bakers and store clerks and they made the bakery successful for many years.
Ike married Vivian Rudolf 58 years ago on August 28, 1960 at St. John Lutheran Church in Waseca. In 1996, they moved to Turtle Lake near Marcell, MN where he loved the lakes and enjoyed his 'Take a Chance Fishing Guide Service.' In 2004, they moved to Lake Darling near Alexandria, MN. Ike enjoyed fishing Turtle Lake, catching lunkers (Vivian always caught the biggest fish), Canadian fishing trips, hunting, gardening, tree planting and woodcarving. He felt the world needed trees and he planted hundreds of them.
Ike enjoyed portaging into Canadian fishing lakes that only float planes could reach to catch and release massive fish. Vivian has been wonderful. 'She was the sparkle and the gem of my life.' Ike lived life as it came with dignity and gratitude. A life full of excitement. A very forgiving man who was thankful for his countless blessings.
Ike was a volunteer in the community and active in his church, St. John Lutheran Church in Waseca and Suomi Lutheran Church near Deer River. He served on the church council with deep faith. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion in Waseca. He was also a member of the Associated Retail Bakers of America.
Having lived into old age, Ike saw everyday as a gift. He was a loving husband, dad, and grandfather with wonderful friends. He always wanted to be kind and to be a gentleman. Ike cared about people. He had a gentle soul and lived his faith to let it shine. A man of grace and dignity, he was appreciated for his giving and loved life to the fullest. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Ike is survived by his loving wife, Vivian of Alexandria, MN; one son, James (Stephanie) Rindelaub of Satellite Beach, FL; one daughter, Julia (Michael) Parent of Cambridge MN; two step-grandsons, Eric and Steven Baker; two grandsons, Matthew Rindelaub and Justin Parent; granddaughter, Shelby Parent; two brothers-in-law, Rev. Russell (Jane) Rudolf, Owatonna, and Dr. Lou Rudolf, Salt Lake City, UT; nephews, nieces, cousins, Godchildren Jacqueline Krause and Kathryn Rudolf, and many amazing friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Doris Jean, and a beautiful infant daughter, Jayne Marie.
Visitation will be held from 4-7PM on Friday, January 25, 2019 at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca, and will continue for one hour before the service at the church on Saturday.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be directed to the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians (810 Freeman St. Valparaiso, IN 46383). Funeral services will be held at 10:30AM on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at St. John Lutheran Church in Waseca, with Rev. John Omans officiating.  Interment will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.
